Early one summers morning I set out to paint the sunrise in the fields behind my house in Tickhill, South Yorkshire. It was a race to capture the colour and I did two small studies working quickly with a palette knife. I really enjoyed observing the changing colour using the texture of the paint to help describe the cloud formation.
