Painting Workshops & Demos for Art Groups

  • I can provide a fun, relaxed, tailored painting workshop for your Art Group. I will paint along with the group from a reference photo, explaining technique and colour choices, step by step, coaching the group as we go. I can provide all the materials and a handout reference guide.

    The workshop can be tailored to fit the available time but I would suggest 3 to 4 hours.

    Alternatively I am happy to just demonstrate an oil painting from start to finish or a mixed media sketch demo.

  • I charge £45 per hour which includes all materials and my travel costs.

Mixed Media Sketching Workshops in Clumber Park

  • A key part of my art practice is mixed media sketching / painting out in the landscape. After an initial quick & loose sketch using drawing pen I will paint in a water colour wash to establish the sky, background and foreground. The next layer is in acrylic adding texture, detail and colour to the key elements of the landscape, typically trees & foliage.

    The final step can be going back to drawing pens in different colours to add final interest details and highlights.

    The result is an expressive, colourful and vibrant landscape in mixed media. A great reference for future development.

    These workshops are open to all abilities where I demonstrate each stage providing all the materials and guidance you need.

    These are really enjoyable, relaxing sessions and the perfect way to spend time absorbed in nature.

  • The price for the 3 hour workshop including materials, a welcome hot drink and entry to the Park is £45.

  • These workshops are facilitated by the Clumber Park Team and form part of their events program.

    They are bookable through the Clumber Park events page of the National Trust website. The events page works in date order so you have to scroll through to find the workshop date.

    Each workshop will be at a different location in Clumber so you could attend more than one and complete a different picture.

  • The workshops start at 10am finishing at 1pm.

An Introduction to Drawing & Painting Course

  • I have designed a Drawing & Painting course for beginners or improving artists who would like to develop their skills. It is taught over six weeks in 2.5 hour weekly sessions.

    This will be a relaxed, fun and safe environment to gain confidence through practice, coaching and feedback.

    It is taught at the Pavillion in Tickhill.

  • The price for the 6 week course is £150 which includes all the necessary materials but attendees may prefer to use their own materials.

    Course 4. (Daytime Class)

    Starts on Thursday 4th September 2025 and runs for 6 weeks, this is a daytime class from 10am until 12:30.
