When my wife and I are out in the garden and we see a robin we always remember a time when our middle child Haris would say “Hello birdie” when he saw a bird. It was such a sweet thing to say and it makes us smile 20+ years later.
I wanted to paint something Christmasy to print a card for this year so I went with a simple robin painted with a palette knife in an impasto style. The texture of the paint and the colour help to bring this little fella to life. Hello birdie!
