Ian Davenport Art
My MISSION is to connect people with their special place, to our beautiful landscape, to adventures had and memories made.
Painting Plein air as much as possible I try and bring an immediacy and freshness to my work with gestural mark making and a bold use of colour. Living in Yorkshire I am inspired by the local landscape, capturing the open spaces and big skies of Northern England.
Latest News…..August 2025
Hello!
August already, it’s hot, maybe too hot for plein air painting!!
Last weekend we hosted the first Art at the Farm event in Tickhill at Eastfield PYO Farm. We had a great collection of local artists and lots of lovely visitors. Despite a challenging wind on Saturday we had good weather and the event was a huge success, already planning a bigger and better show for 2026.
My next art class starts on Thursday 4th September at 10am, a daytime slot. This 6 week introduction to drawing and painting is perfect for beginners and improvers, so if you fancy boosting your art practice drop me a line. I provide all the materials and coach you through each session step by step, great value at only £150 for the full course. Sign up via email.
My mixed media sketching workshops continue monthly at Clumber Park. These are a lovely 3 hour session out in the park with me coaching you through a layered approach to sketching using pen, watercolour and acrylic. Fun, relaxed sessions. To book go to the National Trust website Clumber Park events page.
The big news is I am starting a new body of work called ‘Ascend’, a study in paint & video of iconic road climbs of Northern England. This combines my passion for road cycling with my art practice. More info to follow, its fair to say I am excited by this project.
As always keep an eye on my instagram or here for details of upcoming events and activities.
Enjoy the sun!
